Planning rhythm
Proactive planning works best when it becomes a practical annual review rhythm for owners and advisors.
Review before year-end
- New acquisitions, dispositions, refinances, or ownership changes
- Major repairs, renovations, tenant improvements, or building-system replacements
- Depreciation schedules and fixed asset additions
- Energy upgrades that may affect 179D, 45L, or other incentives, including current cutoff timing
- Assessment notices and property tax appeal deadlines
- Capital gains, estate, succession, or charitable planning decisions
- Whether a no-obligation benefit screen should precede a deeper technical study
Next step
Create a short owner/advisor action list with deadlines, documents needed, likely benefit areas, and the person responsible for each tax planning item.
